Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com is entering the nonfungible token (NFT) market by launching a unique NFT series at its annual JD Discovery conference.
JD.com will distribute commemorative NFT certificates to attendees of the JDD 2021 event in Beijing using its proprietary blockchain network, Sina Finance reported on Wednesday.
JD.com will give away one NFT to anyone who registers for the JDD 2021 conference via the WeChat mini program on the event’s official website between Monday and November 22.
The NFT series, according to the source, consists of seven NFT models, each of which contains an image that represents a separate forum in the JDD event.
Users who register to participate will be able to earn more NFTs by inviting friends to do the same. “For every successful invitation to sign up, one NFT voucher will be added until all seven NFT models have been gathered,” the article states.
On Nov. 22, the JDD 2021 conference will begin at the China International Exhibition Center, with panels on artificial intelligence and technological innovation.
The JDD conference, which began in 2017, has grown to become a major technology event in China, with sessions on smart cities, the digital finance industry, supply chain innovation, and other themes.
The development comes after some prominent Chinese corporations, including Alibaba, the world’s largest retailer, and Tencent, a technology conglomerate, revealed their own NFT projects.
In mid-August, Alibaba announced the creation of an NFT marketplace with the goal of allowing trademark owners to sell tokenized rights to their intellectual property. Tencent earlier stated that its NFT trading platform would be released.
