Patrick Hillmann, a GE and Edelman executive, has been named the world’s top bitcoin exchange’s new Chief Communications Officer. Hillmann will be in charge of Binance’s public relations department.
Hillmann‘s new responsibilities were also stated in a news statement, which also announced the new position. He will be in charge of the company’s corporate communications, public affairs, media relations, and stakeholder engagement operations, to be more specific.
He’ll also collaborate with Binance‘s compliance and security teams as the company strive to comply with international regulators, which has been a rising concern for the exchange this year.
“We are working hand-in-glove with regulators around the world toward our mutual goal of protecting users, encouraging innovation, and further establishing the industry. Patrick’s fifteen years of experience working on global regulatory issues, such as GDPR, will be critical in advancing that work,” said Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao.
Hillmann formerly worked for Edelman’s crisis and risk division as the Global Head of Innovation. Prior to that, he worked for General Electric (GE) and the National Association of Manufacturers in top government and public relations roles (NAM).
Joining Binance, he says, is a “once in a lifetime opportunity” since the company is “really transforming the world.”
Previously, the exchange employed a former US Treasury Criminal Investigator, Mark McGinness, as its Chief Regulatory Liaison Officer, to strengthen its regulatory compliance staff.
