Ralph Lauren files Metaverse-based trademarks for name, logo

Different brands have filed applications for metaverse related trademarks with fashion company Ralph Lauren being the most recent according to a recent USPTO filing.

Polo Ralph Lauren, an American fashion house, has registered nine trademarks in the metaverse for its name and logo. The company trademarked its Polo Player Logo as well as the names POLO and RALPH LAUREN.

The facts of the trademark application were tweeted by Mike Kondoudis, a USPTO licensed trademark attorney.

Virtual fashion shows, virtual hotels and restaurants, NFT-backed multimedia, virtual apparel, footwear, and scents are all included in the trademark.

Furthermore, the trademark application covers NFT-authenticated digital multimedia files of artworks relating to fashion, clothes, lifestyle, footwear, home goods, and so on. It also includes downloadable bitcoin wallet software as well as downloadable virtual products for usage in online virtual worlds.

Ralph Lauren's CEO, Patrice Louvet, stated earlier in January that the fashion house is looking into metaverse prospects to attract a younger generation of customers. “There are a lot of parallels between the metaverse and Ralph's concept because we are not a fashion firm,” he had also added.
