Sam Seo, director of the Klaytn Foundation, believes that bringing Web3 technology to Web2 platforms could lead to widespread acceptance.
Sam Seo, the director of the blockchain Klaytn Foundation, which focuses on the metaverse, thinks that if Web2 companies incorporate the technology into their goods and services, the metaverse will be more widely adopted.
Speaking on Monday at the Korea Blockchain Week (KBW), Seo said that Web3 metaverse projects typically struggle to draw in a broad audience since regular people frequently are wary of utilizing new technology from unknown companies:
“If new ideas are combined with Web2 platforms like [social media app] Kakao, especially in South Korea, there’s accessibility to these new ideas for new services that could be easier than just starting from scratch.”
The largest project of its kind in South Korea, Klaytn’s blockchain is primarily intended for supporting metaverse, GameFi, and creative economy apps.
In a presentation at KBW, Seo stated that the team’s goal is to increase transaction throughput while simultaneously lowering transaction fee costs.
“We’re smart enough to know that people are still hesitating about using this platform because anyway, they have to pay something right. So we believe that gas fees should be as low as possible. So they can have the people enter this area. That’s our thought. And that’s why we are trying to reduce the gas prices,” he said.
Seo also said that later this year, Klaytn will release an open-source Metaverse package with tools for builders to support blockchain development.
