Marc Mathieu, the co-founder of Web3 Studio at Salesforce, shares his insights on the challenges and opportunities for Web3 brands at Consensus 2023.
Web3, the decentralized and user-centric web, is changing how brands acquire and interact with consumers. But what are the best practices and strategies for Web3 brands to succeed in this new digital landscape?
Marc Mathieu, Salesforce’s Web3 Studio co-founder, and SVP, shared his Web3 brand vision and experience at Consensus 2023. He talked about how Web3 can boost trust, transparency, and community for brands and the regulatory and technical challenges of Web3.
Mathieu explained that the decentralized web is a mindset shift that requires brands to co-create value with customers and communities, not just sell products or services.
He said NFTs and digital goods can help brands show their identity and engage their audiences. He gave examples of NFT projects like Bored Ape Yacht Club and Art Blocks that built lively communities and cultures.
However, Mathieu also acknowledged that Web3 is still in its early stages and that many uncertainties and risks are involved.
He said that user-centric webs must know the legal and regulatory implications of operating in a decentralized environment and the security and scalability challenges of using blockchain technology.
He advised them to be cautious and research before launching or participating in any Web3 projects and to seek guidance from experts and partners who can help them navigate this fast-moving and complex space.
Mathieu said Web3 lets brands innovate and add value for customers and society. He said that Web3 is not a destination but a journey and that we are still “crossing the desert” for another 6-9 months before we see more mainstream adoption.
He encouraged Web3 brands to be bold and innovative but also responsible and ethical as they shape the future of the web.
