VUELE, the new NFT movie platform says “Zero Contact” will be “the world’s first NFT feature film and also its debut release.
Anthony Hopkins has already won two Academy Awards. Soon, he’ll have another one-of-a-kind thing to add to the collection—a non-fungible token related to his next film.
Hopkins’ upcoming feature, “Zero Contact,” will be the first film distributed on VUELE’s NFT watching platform, which is a collaboration between film production business Enderby Entertainment and FinTech platform developer CurrencyWorks.
It is “the world’s first NFT feature film,” according to the company.
The Newest Thriller from Academy Award®-Winning Actor @AnthonyHopkins, ZERO CONTACT, will Premiere Exclusively on the VUELE Platform as an NFT!
VUELE is a very new platform, having debuted in June at the tail end of an NFT frenzy that seemed to attract every band (e.g., Grimes and Kings of Leon), athlete (e.g., Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady), and celebrity (e.g., Justin Bieber) (read: Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton).
NFTs are blockchain-based digital tokens that reflect ownership of another asset. Digital trading cards, GIFs, real pieces of art, and video clips are all examples of this.
Although many of the most valuable NFTs are one-of-a-kind, many are marketed in larger “limited” editions. The value proposition of VUELE is to bring them to movies so that moviegoers may buy, watch, and even trade the NFTs that are available on the platform. (VUELE has been requested by Decrypt to clarify which blockchain it uses.)
Non-fungible tokens sold $2.5 billion in the first half of 2021, up from $13.7 million in the same period in 2020. However, the business is changing, with erstwhile market leaders Top Shot—the NBA’s digital trading card NFTs—and others losing ground to newer platforms.
“Zero Contact,” directed by Rick Dugdale for the first time, follows five people from around the world who are tasked with destroying the last innovation of a beloved “tech titan” played by Hopkins.
You’ll have to watch the NFT on VUELE’s platform to find out more. According to VUELE, behind-the-scenes footage, supplementary materials, and interviews may also be released.
Although no release date has been set, a poster for the film indicates that it will be released this summer.
