SingularityNET, a blockchain firm specializing in artificial intelligence (AI), has partnered with research and development firm Dfinity Foundation to enable decentralized applications (DApps) to access large language models (LLMs) and improve the infrastructure of decentralized AI.
The companies announced the commencement of a joint initiative to integrate the SingularityNET marketplace with the Internet Computer (ICP) blockchain on November 20.
As per a statement provided to Cointelegraph, the industry’s primary objective is to rectify the opaqueness surrounding the training data of AI tools, which is a consequence of its centralized structure. The two businesses say decentralizing AI models will render them transparent and tamper-resistant.
Blockchain developers wishing to connect with AI can utilize the ICP network through this partnership. The announcement emphasized that using smart contracts to execute decentralized AI models on ICP ensures the integrity and accessibility of the LLMs’ training parameters.
The two organizations will also synergize their grant programs and the blockchain integration. The announcement states that this aims to “encourage community developer participation” and provide resources that can be utilized to promote decentralized AI.
Ben Goertzel, the chief executive officer of SingularityNET, emphasized that numerous experts anticipate that artificial intelligence (AI) will surpass human-level artificial general intelligence (AGI) within the coming years. He elaborated:
“Given this context, it’s extremely important that we move rapidly toward making the most advanced AI systems on the planet available via decentralized networks, not owned or controlled by any elite group, Big Tech company or government agency.”
In the interim, according to Dominic Williams, the founder of the Dfinity Foundation, initiatives utilizing AI on the ICP blockchain have increased since the foundation announced a $5 million grant in July. As per Williams’ assertion, the collaboration with SingularityNET will propel their aspiration for decentralized AI forward.
