Internet Computer has smashed records with the world’s first blockchain-based AI represented as a smart contract.
Dominic Williams, CEO and Chief Scientist of Internet Computer (ICP), shared on X a demonstration of the most recent Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation of DFinity, the parent company.

As per Williams’ post, ICP has reportedly deployed the initial AI smart contract based on the blockchain.
The new product, in his words, is “a demonstration of AI running *on* blockchain as a smart contract.”
“The Internet Computer is used – the world’s first 3rd gen. blockchain #ICP. AI will become the beating heart of our web3, multi-chain world, and this is only my first demo,” the ICP boss added.
Significantly, the Internet Computer AI contributes to the protocol’s overarching objective of establishing a framework in which robust Large Language Models (LLMs) operate as intelligent contracts on the ICP.
Furthermore, it is intended that this task be completed in such a way that it is tamperproof, unstoppable, and optionally autonomous.
Cognition Labs’s Devin is quite similar to the Internet Computer AI model, only that the former focuses on training other LLMs.
Presently, codes are not accessible for ICP; however, this will shortly change.
In addition to operating on DFINITY’s ICP testnet, the Internet Computer AI would permit developers to transmit its source code to the public network where it would then function.
Predictably, the NNS will increase the limit on per-transaction instructions soon.
Williams noted that the Internet Computer AI still lacks the complete implementation of several additional features.
Internet Computer AI to Access SIMD Data
The Internet Computer smart contract AI model, akin to other artificial intelligence models such as Google Gemini, will require additional effort notwithstanding the demonstration exhibit.
However, the optimization process for the inference engine that powers the AI for smart contracts remains incomplete.
After the completion of these modifications, the next demonstration will inevitably highlight specifics of an upgraded ICP AI, such as increased efficiency, accelerated speed, and reduced gas or cycle consumption.
ICP intends to request access to Single Instruction, Multiple Data (SIMD) instructions for the smart contracts moving forward.
The team is certain that this would significantly increase the system’s speed and efficiency.
Potentially necessitating a transition from a 32-bit to a 64-bit environment, the introduction of Internet Computer AI could force the organization to increase the memory constraints of its smart contracts.
