Terra Virtua, a digital collectibles marketplace, has switched from the Ethereum blockchain to the Polygon blockchain in an effort to be more environmentally friendly.
As part of a mission to build a more sustainable nonfungible token (NFT) ecosystem, Terra Virtua said on Monday that it had migrated from Ethereum to Polygon.
Energy required to create a single NFT will be reduced by more than 99 percent, according to the platform. – Terra Virtua, on the other hand, will remint all digital items that were previously unsold on Ethereum as part of the transition to Polygon.
According to Terra Virtua co-founder and CTO Jawad Ashraf, “Our mission is to revolutionise how audiences engage with NFTs and make them accessible to everyone, but we believe that the environment should not be forced to bear the burden of this new game-changing technology.”

This is part of an upgrade that will allow Terra Virtua to move the platform out of beta testing, according to the company. As part of its expansion, the project stated that it will develop licencing arrangements with worldwide intellectual property and add new features to its product.
In order to complete a previously announced “site-wide upgrade.” the platform was unavailable at the time of publication. Users have until August 22 to purchase Terra Virtua NFTs, which are based on the Ethereum blockchain.
Since raising $2.5 million in a private investment round in November of last year, the digital collectibles platform has been slowly growing its operations.
In addition to hiring top-tier talent with the goal of bringing the NFT market into the mainstream, the platform has launched a series of high-profile digital collectibles to coincide with the premiere of a big motion picture.
