The book by Michael Lewis, ‘The Big Short,’ about the former FTX CEO, will be released on October 3rd. SBF’s New York legal proceedings begin on this date.
Apple reportedly acquired the rights to the imminent book by Michael Lewis about the former CEO of FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), in a competitive bidding process for $5 million.
This information originates from a report published by The Ankler on September 7th.
The publication of the book, as mentioned earlier, titled “Going Infinite: The Ascent and Decline of a Modern Magnate,” is scheduled for October 3rd, coinciding with the beginning of SBF’s legal proceedings in New York.
Lewis had initially proposed a publication date of October during his presentation at the Bitcoin 2023 conference in Miami, which would have coincided with the start of the former FTX CEO’s criminal trial.
In addition, The Ankler mentioned the development of a documentary on this topic, directed by Nanette Burstein, who is well-known for her previous works on programmer and cryptocurrency advocate John McAfee (who died in 2021) and former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Given the notoriety of Bankman-Fried’s case and his unique fashion sense and hairstyle, it is anticipated that multiple documentaries will examine his story both during and after the criminal trial.
Given the ongoing strike of the Writers Guild of America, in conjunction with the strikes of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, the future of these film projects still needs to be determined.
Union members are urging the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers to address several issues, including compensation for online content streaming and the future use of artificial intelligence in the industry.
Long before the cryptocurrency exchange FTX collapsed and his subsequent arrest in the Bahamas, the story surrounding Bankman-Fried captivated the public’s attention.
Despite frequently wearing casual attire such as T-shirts, shorts, and footwear in public, he oversaw substantial assets at Alameda Research and FTX. He was initially viewed as a rising star.
Notably, SBF acquired a more formal appearance during court appearances before his bail was revoked by donning a suit and tie.
Other documentaries spotlighting prominent figures and events in cryptocurrency include Netflix’s “Trust No One: The Pursuit of the Crypto Monarch,” focusing on the founder of QuadrigaCX, Gerald Cotten, who allegedly passed away in India.
Brian Armstrong, the co-founder and CEO of Coinbase, is also the subject of a documentary currently in the works.
Before the strike, it was rumored that a film would be made about the relationship between Bankman-Fried and Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao.
