A report says that Steven Christie, who worked for almost five years at Kraken, joined Binance in May.
Binance founder, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, said that Kraken rival Steven Christie was hired as Binance’s senior vice president (SVP) of compliance. Christie came from Kraken.
CZ wrote on Twitter that Christie joined Binance “a few months ago” and that the company still plans to hire “a few hundred more compliance people.”
Christie is in charge of the 750-person team at the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange. Since getting a lot of warnings from central banks and other regulatory bodies last year, the exchange has been eager to show how serious it is about following the rules.
The move had already been written about in the Wall Street Journal.
The news comes a day after Binance said it was putting together a board to help it with political and regulatory issues. David Plouffe, a former senior adviser to President Barack Obama, Lord Ed Vaizey, a former U.K. minister of state for culture and the digital economy, and Ibukun Awosika, a former chair of the First Bank of Nigeria, are all members of the advisory board.
