Casio Teams Up with Astar’s zkEVM to join the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) bandwagon. Expanding into the Digital Market
With the Astar zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM), Casio, one of the most renowned watch brands in the world, has entered the contest for non-fungible tokens (NFTs). On May 1, the Casio watch NFTs are expected to go live.
As per the announcement, this novel advancement is intended to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Casio. Additionally, Astar Network utilized X to declare a noteworthy partnership with Casio.
“In celebration of #CASIO Watch’s 50-year legacy, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of exclusive commemorative NFTs inspired by iconic CASIO timepieces, all within the YoPort of Astar zkEVM’s Yoki Origins journey!”
The Japanese watchmaker has established strategic alliances with the individuals or groups tasked with developing the digital collectibles for this assortment.
Significantly, the NFT collection of Casio watches consists of eight pieces (artwork), which exhibit a fusion of works from various creators. Every artwork would serve as a representation of a well-known model of Casio timepiece.
Astar zkEVM’s Yoki Origins
Casio must collaborate with Astar zkEVM, a powerhouse created in collaboration with Polygon and Astar, to improve scalability. Astar zkEVM, fueled by Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK), implemented Yoki Origins as its gamified user onboarding experience a few months ago. The Yoki Origins experience is being integrated into the Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution through this new partnership with Casio.
One of the watchmakers’ creations, the Casio YoPort capsule generator, will be displayed at the Yoki Origins. Casio offers two variants of the YoPort, enabling purchasers to acquire either a single NFT or eight NFTs. The artwork depicted in this work will remain unseen until May 10, a designated date known as Reveal Day.
Those who purchase Casio watch NFTs can receive items with varying values, such as an original G-Shock and Astar valued at 10,000 yen (approximately $64). The timepiece would feature the logo for Astar zkEVM.
This signifies an additional venture by Casio into the NFT ecosystem. The renowned Japanese watch manufacturer introduced the virtual G-Shock watch on Polygon’s protocol eight months ago.
Subsequently, an NFT-based assortment of community access permits was introduced. The distribution of 15,000 NFT-based G-SHOCK creator permits was open to users.
