Nyan Heroes, a cat-themed play-to-earn (P2E) NFT game, plans to save 1 billion cats from euthanasia in animal shelters across the United States.
Nyan Heroes is a new NFT battle royale shooter based on the Solana Blockchain. This will allow players to compete using NFTs, which represent the animated cats that control the game’s mechanical robot NFTs.
This US-based project has been in the works since October, with a delivery date set for the fourth quarter of 2022. The company’s first NFT drop is now available for holding and trading Fractal and other markets.
Based on reports, Nyan Heroes from Solana Art is the fourth greatest NFT project on Solana in terms of 7-day trading volume and market value, with US$279,000 and US$18.2 million, respectively.
Nyan Heroes Co-founder Wendy Huang, an Australian, spoke with Cointelegraph about the company’s humanitarian purpose and gave a description of the upcoming tournament.
Since 2016, Huang has been interested in cryptography and has created a flourishing career as a content creator, ranging from vlogs to DIY videos, pranks, and music, with roughly 14 million YouTube subscribers.
Rescuing the cats
Huang noted that her and other co-founders Max Fu’s affection for cats is a driving force behind Nyan Heroes’ animal-focused charitable activity. She stated that they have a lofty goal: to “rescue 1 billion cats” from euthanasia in animal shelters by generating charity donations from the project’s partial NFT sales.
On December 24, Nyan Heroes made their first foray into this industry, donating $250,000 of its first NFT revenues to the non-profit organization Best Friends Society. She remarked, “That was one of my proudest moments in this project.”

The Best Friends Society operates “non-killing” shelters for orphaned animals and works to prevent the death of cats and dogs in shelters around the United States through its charitable activities. According to the organization, its “no-kill” program has helped reduce the number of cats and dogs killed in animal shelters from 17 million to around 347,000 per year.
Huang explained that the gaming project will create a DAO, which will offer its members voting rights over how Nyan Heroes funds are distributed in the future.
“We will create a young hero DAO. Part of the responsibility of the DAO will be to decide where to donate funds, which animal shelter to which, and the reasons for that particular field.” She remarked.
Long-term sustainability is a big sticking point in the P2E blockchain game, according to Huang. Many P2E games, she added, rely on a regular influx of new users to stay lucrative, and they suffer from the agony of players constantly cashing in and extracting value from the game.
“We don’t know how many participants will enter the economic field. Therefore, we need to realize that building a game is not only about gameplay, but also about the economic system and the sustainability of everything,” she explained.
The inclusion of in-game stablecoins to limit the volatility of its assets, the pledge of NFT incentives, and the Triple-A playing experience similar to Fortnite, according to Huang, are all part of Nyan Heroes’ sustainable development plan.
