Georgia-based crypto startup Citypay.io has partnered with Gate Pay to enable the former to accept crypto-based payment options for their goods and services.
Gate Pay, the cryptocurrency payment service provided by Gate.io, has partnered with CityPay.io, a Georgia-based startup specializing in crypto payments. The partnership will enable over 600 merchants in Georgia to accept crypto-based payment options for their goods and services.
According to the announcement, by partnering with CityPay.io, Gate Pay users can connect with numerous merchants throughout Georgia, facilitating various daily activities, including hotel bookings, supermarket buying, and restaurant payments. Notably, Wendy’s is one of CityPay.io’s partners, and consumers can now pay for their meals with cryptocurrencies.
Feng Zhou, the director of Gate Pay, stated that the launch of Gate Pay aimed to connect users with cryptocurrency-friendly businesses, products, and applications to bridge the divide between Web3 and people’s daily lives. Therefore, the Gate Pay team has collaborated with partners such as CityPay to offer crypto payment services to merchants.
The partnership between Gate Pay and CityPay.io makes Web3 purchasing available to more regional merchants and consumers. This expansion will be facilitated by Gate Pay’s user base and experience, combined with CityPay.io’s business network and coverage in Georgia.
Gate.io’s efforts to broaden its business coverage are not novel. The company announced on February 22 that it would pursue a crypto license in Hong Kong to launch “Gate HK.”
Georgia has emerged as one of the most crypto-friendly nations in the world, with its regulations attracting crypto companies to establish regional branches. The Georgian government aspires to transform the country into a leading global crypto center.
