Coinbase has partnered with Bitkey to make it easier for customers to purchase Bitcoin while having control over their private keys.
Bitkey, a bitcoin wallet service introduced by Jack Dorsey’s Block, has collaborated with the crypto exchange to enable users to buy, sell, and transfer bitcoin through their mobile app or hardware wallet using Coinbase Pay. The team is currently beta testing the platform and expects to make it publicly available later this year.
As part of the partnership, customers participating in the global beta program will have access to an innovative feature. This feature allows them to transfer Bitcoin from centralized exchanges to their secure Bitkey self-custody wallet.
This means that customers can use Coinbase Pay within the Bitkey wallet not only to purchase Bitcoin easily. Additionally, they can initiate the transfer of their purchased Bitcoin from the crypto exchange to their self-custody Bitkey wallet.
The service will be available to customers of Bitkey and the crypto exchange in various countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Australia.
Lindsey Grossman, the business lead for Bitkey, highlighted the importance of partnerships in expanding their international presence. She expressed their satisfaction in collaborating with reputable organizations like Coinbase to ensure self-custody security.
