Cryptocurrency firm CoinFund has hired Christopher Perkins of Citigroup Inc., to be a managing partner and President at the firm.

To assist bridge the gap to the traditional finance sector , CoinFund, a blockchain-focused investment firm, hired Christopher Perkins from Citigroup Inc. as managing partner and president.

Perkins was the global co-head of Citigroup's futures, clearing, and foreign-exchange prime brokerage operations.

He'll engage with staff and institutional investors at CoinFund to help bridge the gap between crypto and traditional equities, according to a statement released by the firm on Thursday.

According to Jake Brukhman, CoinFund's founder and CEO, “Chris Perkins will play a crucial role in achieving institutional scale to better position CoinFund as a prominent global investment manager at the convergence of crypto and traditional finance.”

“Chris joining CoinFund is not only a significant milestone for our firm, but it also represents a broader trend as Wall Street looks to the blockchain-technology field for opportunities.”

About five years ago, Wall Street began experimenting with blockchain, and banks like JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. are now giving clients various digital-asset services.

CoinFund, situated in Brooklyn, New York, invests in venture and liquid blockchain opportunities with a focus on digital assets, decentralization technologies, and infrastructure, and was launched in 2015.
