The upcoming Crypto.com Showdown, a professional golf tournament with a prize fund entirely paid in cryptocurrency, has revealed Crypto.com as its title sponsor.
According to a press release, PGA Tour players Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will compete alongside LIV Golf players Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka during the event set for December 17 in Las Vegas.
A multimillion-dollar prize in CRO, Crypto.com’s native token, will be given away in this event. This is the first time a significant sporting event has offered a reward fund in Bitcoin.
According to Kris Marzalek, CEO of Crypto.com, the sponsorship aligns with the company’s goal of promoting Bitcoin adoption worldwide. Marzalek said:
This tournament demonstrates the potential of cryptocurrency to reshape the sports and entertainment industries”
BZ Entertainment and EverWonder Studio, renowned for producing innovative sports and entertainment experiences, are organizing the event.
The goal of the Showdown, according to producers Ian Orefice and Bryan Zuriff, is to “unify and innovate” professional golf while offering players and spectators big stakes.
Crypto Prize
Although the use of cryptocurrencies in sports is growing, this tournament is a trailblazer in that it incorporates cryptocurrency into awarding prizes.
Through collaborations with Formula 1, the UFC, and the FIFA World Cup, Crypto.com has strengthened its position in the global sports arena.
By interacting with mainstream audiences, the network, which has more than 100 million users, keeps establishing itself as a leader in cryptocurrency.
