The release from July 12 states that xAI would collaborate closely with Tesla, Twitter, and other businesses owned by Musk to “make progress toward our mission.”
The company is aggressively looking to add skilled engineers and researchers in the San Francisco Bay area to its technical personnel. The Center for AI Safety’s Dan Hendrycks is listed as the company’s adviser.
“We have previously worked at DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research and The University of Toronto. Collectively we contribute some of the most widely used methods in the field, in particular the Adam optimizer, Batch Normalization, Layer Normalization and the discovery od adversarial examples”
The xAI team has contributed to earlier innovations, including GPT-3.5, GPT-4, Inception, AlphaStar, AlphaCode, and Minerva. On July 14, there will be a Twitter Space talk regarding the project.
Musk is working on a ChatGPT competitor called “TruthGPT,” a sizable language model the business tycoon claims will be trained to investigate the “mysteries of the universe.”
Musk claims that TruthGPT is also intended to combat “left-wing” bias in the marketplace, claiming that ChatGPT” is programmed by left-wing experts, which train the chatbots to lie.”
Musk stated that artificial intelligence (AI) may one day be “smarter than all humans at everything” in a July 6 demand for increased regulatory control of the field. He added that the world will undergo “very profound change” due to AI-powered gadgets like robots and self-driving automobiles.
