The hosting concert of Elon Musk SNL began with a rare cold open to celebrate the show’s mothers. And during the monolog he continued this theme by taking his mom to the stage to speak about Dogecoin.
The hosting concert for the Tesla and SpaceX milliardaire took center stage at the Studio 8H on Saturday. In comparison with certain episodes with non-actors, however, even though someone in a room suit could be seen right before the audience came to an end the monolog didn’t focus on music or bits to fill the time. Instead Musk opened his last provocative comments for five minutes, admitted that he had been involved with a continuum of autism, odd posts and tweets.
“I have to say even after I say something “I mean that,” he said. He said sometimes. “This is because of the way I speak I don’t really have any intonational difference. The comedy that I’m told is amazing.”
The first person to host SNL with Aspergers is Musk. Or at least the first person to admit SNL.” However, as many people have noted online, this statement is not precise. Dan Aykroyd has revealed that he is also on the autism spectrum former cast member and host, and Musk is also not the first considering his admission here that he is on the spectrum.
Musk also had tweets, including one reading “69 days after 420 ha.” He grafted it to his continuum and admitted, along with a non-apology “that’s how my brain functions.”
“I want to suggest that I reinvented electric vehicles for anyone who I insulted, and I take a rocket ship to Mars,” said Musk. “You thought I’d be a chill too, ordinary guy?”
He also spoke to Joe Rogan on his notorious podcast, where he smoked cannabis and played with a blade. He likened himself to the very popular victim of a murders trial by joking that he doesn’t just “go from podcast to podcast, lit joints.”
It’s like OJ Simpson’s reduction to assassin. It was once,” said Musk, doubling the joke later. “Fun reality, in 1979 and again in ’96, the OJ hosted this program. Both times murdered.”
That’s not entirely correct again, however: In 1978, Simpson was host only once. In any case, Musk joked that he might test and “tell something genuinely surprising about NBC censors. Much like I’m driving a Prius.” He also enjoyed the much spoken name of his kid (“The cat’s spoken ‘rolling around the keyboard'”).
Then he called his mom out to chat about his childhood, part of his famous plot, the video game that he made and sold. She fought for the time frame, but Dogecoin was definitely mentioned, the first of many crypto-monetary references on the display.
All in all, it wasn’t the best monolog we had in Season 46 and was an inconsistent start to an episode that went on the rest of the night. However, it was definitely one of the most spoken about the year, and Musk proved he had a lot to say.
