Ethereum Liquid Staking Shake-Up: $268M Outflow Jolts Market Leaders
Ethereum liquid staking protocols are facing a dramatic shift after months of strong inflows.

Between late May and August, liquid staking providers (LSPs) absorbed a massive 690,000 ETH. But in the past 27 days alone, those same platforms have watched nearly 60,000 ETH, worth $268.55 million, flow out, flipping sentiment and rattling the $64 billion ecosystem.
Billions Locked, But Outflows Surge
Ethereum liquid staking remains the dominant force in decentralized finance. Data shows that ETH-focused LSPs hold $63.99 billion out of the $87.17 billion locked across all liquid staking protocols, commanding a 73.4% market share. Yet the recent $268M outflow suggests that investors may be rotating strategies, taking profits, or hedging exposure amid market volatility.
Lido Still Rules the Arena
At the top, Lido Finance continues to dominate with $38.52 billion in total value locked (TVL) across five chains. Last week alone, the protocol collected $21.68 million in fees, generating $2.17 million in revenue for its validators and stakers. Despite inflows cooling, Lido’s size keeps it firmly in control of the ETH staking landscape.

Binance Flexes but Faces Margin Pressure
Binance Staked ETH follows with $15.86 billion locked across two chains, earning $8.01 million in fees and $800,767 in revenue. While Binance’s staking service has surged in scale over the past year, its lower margins underscore how competitive the LSP business has become.
Mid-Tier Players Keep It Spicy
Rocket Pool: 636,780 ETH ($2.85B TVL), down -0.33% on the week.
Liquid Collective: 363,138 ETH ($1.63B TVL), flat at -0.08%.
Stakewise V2: 325,962 ETH ($1.46B TVL), up +1.92% this week.
mETH Protocol: 264,488 ETH ($1.19B TVL), hit hardest with -8.06%.
Stader: 160,327 ETH ($721.8M TVL), almost flat at -0.18%.
Coinbase Wrapped Staked ETH: 139,426 ETH ($624.39M TVL), up +10.27%, the week’s breakout gainer.
Smaller LSPs Show Mixed Fortunes
Frax Ether: 90,468 ETH ($405.8M TVL), flat at -0.12%.
Origin Ether: 38,039 ETH ($170.6M TVL), down -0.29%.
Crypto.com Liquid Staking: 36,376 ETH ($162.9M TVL), up +5.68%.
Swell: 25,327 ETH ($113.6M TVL), down -3.52%.
The Bigger Picture
Ethereum liquid staking remains a $64 billion behemoth, but the recent outflow highlights the fragile balance between growth and rotation. Heavyweights like Lido and Binance continue to command the lion’s share, while mid-tier players swing between gains and losses. With competition heating up and billions at stake, the Ethereum liquid staking market is proving to be less of a quiet yield farm and more of a gladiator pit, one where dominance can shift quickly.
