Hardhat Chad, the Ore project’s creator, proposed that the Solana Foundation implement a reward system to encourage testnet activity and decongest the network.
The Solana network encountered this recommendation following a week of congestion and a transaction failure rate of up to 75%.
Hardhat Chad stated in a post on the social media platform X that the Solana Foundation should offer SOL tokens as an incentive for users to participate in testnet activities, such as testing new features or protocols if the Solana blockchain platform wishes to do so.
This incentive may inspire users to participate actively in testing, thereby identifying potential issues before the platform’s deployment to the mainnet and enhancing its performance.
Divergent opinions existed within the community regarding Hardhat Chad’s proposal. Some supported it, and some opposed it. Contrary to this, one user, TheSoftwareJedi, advised Chad to prioritize his project’s development while demonstrating benevolence towards the foundation.
The user suggested that Hardhat Chad consider submitting a grant application to the foundation for funding. However, they emphasized the importance of maintaining independence from foundation incentives.
However, Hardhat Chad clarified that he has no intention of requesting foundation funding. Without developing testnet tools, establishing a currency is his objective for Ore. As he reevaluates the motivations for combating spam, he questions why the development of testnet spam programs should take precedence.
This proposition is in response to Hardhat Chad’s social media announcement that mining operations must cease immediately for the safety of the Solana network and Ore’s stakeholders. Hardhat Chad underscored the criticality of a redesigned smart contract framework in light of the recent challenges encountered on the network.
This calculated manoeuvre is following the project’s schedule for constructing the second iteration (v2) of Ore, which underscores a dedication to enduring sustainability.
Ore, a Solana-based blockchain-based initiative, utilizes a proof-of-work (PoW) token distribution mechanism to determine the optimal distribution method. The endeavor involves testing the integration of Solana’s rapid transaction capabilities with PoW’s security.
Since its inception, Ore’s operations have contributed substantially to the congestion of Solana’s network, causing disruptions in transaction scheduling and a notable incidence of unsuccessful transactions, primarily due to the network’s memecoin frenzy.
In contrast, Solana developers have issued v1.17.31, a mainnet beta update, to alleviate the persistent network congestion on the Solana blockchain.
Additional improvements are forthcoming in v1.18. This patch includes enhancements to assist with some of the ongoing network congestion.
