In India, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) credentialing system will issue tamper-evident certificates via the Avalanche blockchain due to compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine.
With more than 75,000 members, India has the second-largest IEEE membership base outside the United States. The professional association shall provide IEEE credentials or certificates to all trainees and users to ensure the verification process is impregnable, immediate, and secure.
The IEEE will issue blockchain certificates through LegitDoc, a Zupple Labs-developed blockchain-based credential lifecycle management system. Co-founder of Zupple, Neil Martis, said the Indian public sector has become more receptive to implementing full-fledged blockchain initiatives than pilots over the past year.
The rationale behind selecting Avalanche’s C-Chain as the principal settlement layer for issuing IEEE certificates was the requirement for an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible ecosystem. Martis continued, “However, we would experiment with new platforms and parallel settlement layers as appropriate new technologies emerge.”
Head of Avalanche’s India division, Devika Mittal, stated in support of Martis’s decision:
“Avalanche’s EVM compatibility simplifies the deployment of widely used applications, including credential registries and identity management, streamlining the development process for developers.”
Additionally, she emphasized that leading organizations, such as SK Planet and JP Morgan Onyx, favor Avalanche as their primary blockchain technology.
Mittal advised organizations considering blockchain implementation first to identify their challenges and select a blockchain that can guarantee the solutions’ immutability, durability, and security.

The engineering community in India will receive hundreds of thousands of tamper-proof credentials due to the partnership between IEEE and Zupple Labs.
The declaration emphasizes the significant impact that IEEE’s support for blockchain technology in the context of education credentialing has on the Web3 community and catalyzes increased engagement.
