The United States Air Force will use Constellation’s Hypergraph Network to provide data security to the Department of Defense’s commercial partners as part of a blockchain-based initiative that will be launched later this year.
Constellation said it had been working with Kinnami Software Corporation on an end-to-end data security solution using blockchain encryption and distributed data management for the US Transportation Command, the Air Mobility Command’s 618th Air Operations Center, and a Civil Reserve Air Fleet partner.
According to the platform’s mission statement, its goal is to securely exchange data with commercial partners on missions involving the operation of aircraft and ships under contract to the Department of Defense, or DoD, according to the DoD.
Known as USTRANSCOM, the United States Transportation Command enables authorities, including those in the 618th Transportation Regiment, to coordinate missions by utilizing available resources from both the military and the private sector.
The solution provided by Constellation Network may have the potential to improve the current cybersecurity and overall effectiveness of the system.
“Blockchain technology has become increasingly attractive to enterprise organizations in recent years, thanks to its promise to improve efficiency and security across a wide range of applications, including supply chain management,” said Benjamin Diggles, co-founder and chief strategy officer of Constellation.
”This contract opens the door to larger, more critical applications of blockchain technology for data protection in a global digital infrastructure, bringing the true promises of the core technology to light,” says the author.
DAG, the native token of Constellation, is owned by the Civil Reserve Air Fleet partner as well as several Department of Defense agencies. DAG will be used to secure bandwidth on the company’s network.
As a security solution, Constellation will provide its Hypergraph Transfer Protocol, or HGTP, which will replace the Hypertext Transfer Protocol, or HTTP, which is currently in use by many businesses and government organizations.
One of the first contracts signed by the United States Air Force with Constellation in 2019 appeared to be more focused on data management. In a statement released in 2013, the military branch stated that the partnership was an attempt to “speed up the experience, broaden the pool of potential applicants, and reduce bureaucratic overhead.”
