Intel has released a new bitcoin mining chip dubbed Blockscale, the new chip according to intel will help to boost the Bitcoin mining ecosystem’s sustainability.
Intel, the American chipmaker, released some facts about its new application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC)called Blockscale in a Monday announcement.
The second-generation Bitcoin mining chip can achieve a hash rate of 580 GH/s while yet maintaining a power efficiency of 26 J/TH. The device is capable of measuring voltage and temperature.
The innovation enables Intel to become a formidable rival in the Bitcoin mining industry, posing a threat to the monopoly of Bitmain and MicroBT, two Chinese firms that currently dominate the market. In terms of efficiency, Blockscale outperforms practically every other product offered by competing ASIC manufacturers.
By making mining more sustainable, the new rig could help to mitigate complaints of Bitcoin’s excessive energy use. According to Intel’s Jose Rios, the introduction of Blockscale will help to boost the Bitcoin mining ecosystem’s sustainability.
According to the company’s release, the product will be able to provide great productivity without sacrificing energy efficiency. The ultra-efficient mining chip will be available to Intel customers in the third quarter of 2022.
Some of the most well-known cryptocurrency mining firms, including Hive Blockchain and Argo Blockchain, have already expressed interest in receiving Intel’s new ASIC.
Intel first revealed some data regarding the first-generation Bonanza mining chip during the ISSCC 2022 conference in February, as previously reported.
