“I am looking forward to learning more about crypto and being a part of this amazing organization,” McNamara stated in response to the announcement.
After the NCAA began permitting athletes to accept sponsorships and other forms of remuneration, the life of a famous college athlete has changed dramatically.
Cade McNamara, the quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines, is the next to join the money train. More Management, LLC has signed an endorsement contract with the young star, and McNamara will be paid in cryptocurrencies.
The cryptocurrency startup situated in Los Angeles specializes in customized live events and digital collectibles like non-fungible tokens (NFTs). More Management also has its own cryptocurrency, $MORE, which is listed on the Bittrex Exchange.
“With the quickly expanding interest in cryptocurrencies and a lot of professional athletes already getting paid in cryptocurrency, we expect other college athletes to follow Cade’s lead in finding collaborations within the cryptocurrency community,” More Management founder and CEO Peter Klamka stated. Cade will be welcomed into the MORE family with open arms.”
“I am looking forward to learning more about crypto and being a part of this amazing organization,” McNamara stated in response to the announcement.
Other celebrities with whom More has partnerships and deals include 21 Savage, Cardi B, Migos, Saweetie, and Rich the Kid. More Coin is presently trading at $0.07, up roughly 13% in the last 24 hours.
“Cade will be compensated in MORE and he will have a Bittrex account,” Kate Ellis, a representative for MORE, told Maize n Brew.
Cade, like all of our NIL athletes, can choose to be paid in cash or cryptocurrency, but a percentage of his payment will be made in MORE.”
“This is very cutting edge compared to typical NIL transactions — it’s not simply t-shirts with your number on them,” Ellis continued.
College athletes are already benefiting from the NCAA’s new eased restrictions after decades of striving towards the chance to be compensated for their services.
Student-athletes can now earn from their image, name, and likeness (NIL), and some have landed hefty contracts. D’Eriq King, the quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes, just secured a deal with Panini America, a prominent trading card business.
With FSU quarterback McKenzie Milton, King launched his own NFT company. The company, Dreamfield, sells the pair’s NFT trading cards, which are available on OpenSea.
