Although still in the beta software stage and available only for Mac, Windows and Andriod users, the new internet browser is Opera’s new Web3 initiative designed for all things involving blockchain technology.
Opera announced on Wednesday that it will release a new browser that is designed and optimized for all things blockchain, including cryptocurrency trading, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) purchases, blockchain news filters, a handy privacy clipboard feature, and a built-in non-custodial digital wallet for storing cryptos or NFTs.
The Crypto Browser Project, according to Opera’s release, is a blockchain-enabled browser interface. It’s now available as a beta software on Mac and Windows PCs, as well as Android for mobile users; an iOS version is in the works. The new browser was created specifically to work with blockchain technology right out of the box.
“Too few of today’s web browsing experiences have been designed with the goal of putting Web3 front and center and making blockchain technology understandable and simple to use.”
“We have set out to alter this with the Crypto Browser Project, and we are encouraging the blockchain community to join us on this effort starting today,” Opera noted in its release.
The Crypto Browser Project’s beta version only supports a few blockchains, including Ethereum, Nervos, Bitcoin, and Celo. As the initiative proceeds, the company says it aims to expand its blockchain capabilities.
The native crypto wallet that is already built into the browser, removing the need to download other digital wallet extensions, is one of the most exciting and distinctive characteristics of this internet user interface.
“This adds to the security because the browser and wallet, both of which will be released as open source soon, were created by the same trusted teams in Sweden and Poland. Still, want to use Metamask or another wallet? It will, of course, function in a PC browser – we’ve even added a new wallet selector tool to make the process easier,” the business added.
