Citadel founder and CEO Kenneth Griffin won last night’s frantic bidding for a rare copy of the United States Constitution, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The winner of yesterday night’s frenzied auction for a rare copy of the United States Constitution, which spurred a week-long attempt among a group of crypto enthusiasts to amass the millions of dollars required to bid on it, was Citadel founder and CEO Kenneth Griffin, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Sotheby’s dubbed Griffin’s winning offer of $43.2 million “record shattering” on Thursday evening, defeating the spokesman for ConstitutionDAO, who raised more than $40 million for its own endeavour. The organization is now working on reimbursing its donations.
The sale and its aftermath on Thursday night were particularly tumultuous, with the winner of the auction not immediately evident at the finish.
