Revolut is partnering with Ledger, a prominent hardware wallet company, to broaden the availability of crypto payment channels in specific European Economic Area (EEA) countries.
On August 14, Revolut and Ledger jointly announced a new partnership. The partnership aims to enable Ledger customers to purchase and sell cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin through Revolut Ramp, the on-ramp service provider.
Revolut will become an official purchase provider in 27 EEA countries, including Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ireland, Latvia, Malta, Switzerland, and others, as part of the collaboration with Ledger’s crypto wallet application, Ledger Live.
Ledger and Revolut integrate crypto transactions and self-custody
The partnership between Revolut and Ledger aims to accelerate the completion of Ledger’s self-custodial wallets and streamline the cryptocurrency acquisition process.
The new integration enables existing Revolut customers who have completed integrated Know Your Customer (KYC) checks to bypass verification and checkout immediately, allowing them to purchase crypto in seconds.
The companies stated in a joint press release that self-custody will inevitably become the focal point as more individuals seek to leverage the benefits of crypto and become interested in participating in the digital asset economy.
“Users will now be able to trade with Revolut, all while maintaining full digital ownership.”
Revolut Ramp also provides an integrated KYC process that non-Revolut consumers can complete in minutes to pay with a Visa or Mastercard. Furthermore, the integration introduces Revolut Pay as a payment method on Ledger, facilitating instantaneous online transactions.
Revolut’s Adoption in the UK
Revolut is the largest fintech company in the United Kingdom, serving over 40 million consumers worldwide since its inception in 2015.
Revolut began offering cryptocurrency services in 2017, enabling users to purchase, sell, and store cryptocurrency on its online banking platform.
Emil Urmanshin, Revolut’s general crypto manager, has stated that the company’s collaboration with the Ledger wallet is the subsequent phase in its endeavor to “assist individuals in the secure and seamless adoption of Web3.” He declared:
“We’re delighted to be working with Ledger, a leader in the self-custody space, as we further cement Revolut as the go-to financial app for crypto investors.”
Urmanshin stated that the new partnership is a testament to the success of Revolut Ramp, which was introduced in March 2024.
Customers can purchase and deposit cryptocurrency directly into self-custodial wallets such as MetaMask or Ledger using Revolut Ramp. Customers have the option to utilize their fiat currency balance, which is accessible in 18 currencies, or to pay with their Visa or Mastercard bank card.
