SEGA Corporation, a Japanese video game corporation, has reversed its critical attitude on non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and now has reassured its support as they believe they are an important part of gaming’s future.
In an interview, Masayoshi Kikuchi, CEO of SEGA, believes that gaming will grow to encompass new areas such as cloud gaming and NFTs, and cloud technologies are the future of gaming.
The company executive stated in 2021 that they were opposed to the concept of using NFTs in their games. This, however, does not appear to be the case any longer.
According to him: Gaming has a history of expansion through the connection of various cultures and technologies. For example, social networking and game video viewing are recent examples.
Kikuchi added that: It is a natural extension for the future of gaming that it will expand to involve new areas such as cloud gaming and NFT. We are also developing SuperGame from the perspective of how far different games can be connected to each other.
