Play Solana to Launch Handheld Gaming Device in October
Play Solana has confirmed that it will begin shipping its first handheld gaming device, the PSG1, on October 6, 2025. The console is designed to merge traditional gaming with blockchain functionality, positioning itself as a gaming hub and a Web3 platform.

The PSG1 comes with an octa-core ARM processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. It features a 5-inch OLED screen, along with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. On the gaming side, it supports a wide range of titles, including retro games from platforms like the PS2 and GameCube.
What makes the device stand out is its integration with blockchain technology. The PSG1 has a built-in hardware wallet secured by fingerprint authentication, allowing users to store and manage digital assets directly from the console. Play Solana says this makes the device not just a handheld gaming system but also a secure gateway into decentralized applications and Web3 gaming.
To build community support, Play Solana is offering early access to the first 2,000 users through an NFT-based program. The company has also announced a limited-edition version of the PSG1 in collaboration with Pudgy Penguins, priced at around $349. Each sale will be tied to token initiatives designed to strengthen the ecosystem.
This launch follows Solana’s earlier ventures into hardware, including the Saga smartphone, which debuted in 2022. Despite initial doubts, the Saga generated strong demand on secondary markets and later evolved into the Seeker, a follow-up device that attracted over 150,000 pre-orders and shipped globally in 2025.
The PSG1 signals Solana’s next step in expanding its hardware strategy, this time targeting the growing blockchain gaming market. Industry observers see it as part of a broader trend where gaming devices increasingly blend entertainment with crypto features, catering to traditional gamers and Web3 enthusiasts.
With its October rollout, the PSG1 will test how far blockchain-powered devices can go in appealing to mainstream players while offering the security and community-driven features valued in decentralized ecosystems.
