South Korea's Top Presidential Candidate Will Accept BTC and ETH as Campaign Contributions
According to The Korea Times, South Korean politician Lee Jae-Myung, who formally became the progressive Democratic Party's presidential contender in October, will accept Bitcoin and Ethereum, as well as three other cryptocurrencies to be determined by his election committee.
This month, Lee's cryptocurrency-savvy followers will be able to contribute to the campaign. According to the report, all contributed bitcoin would be converted to cash through a local exchange.
Lee is attempting to win younger voters with his cryptocurrency campaign. According to a November survey, 40.5 percent of respondents between the ages of 20 and 40 claimed they have invested in cryptocurrencies.
During a lecture at Seoul National University last month, he stated that he wants South Korea to take the lead in the global bitcoin scene, calling cryptocurrency an “undeniable reality.”
Lee also advocated for deferring cryptocurrency taxation until next year, while also vowing to expand deduction limitations.
Bitcoin Hashrate Reaches New Milestone
Bitcoin hashrate has reached a new record high of 203.5 per second, according to BitInfoCharts data. Bitcoin's hashrate has increased by 47.92 percent from January 3, 2021, when it was 141.55 EH / s.
The Bitcoin network's processing power and security have never been higher, and the network hit a significant milestone in early 2022.

Eminem buys Bored Ape “EminApe” NFT for $460K
Eminem became a member of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) by acquiring one of the nonfungible token (NFT) Bored Apes on OpenSea’s NFT marketplace for $462,000. Bored Ape has a gold chain necklace and khaki army headgear that Eminem wears in real life and has been added to his portfolio by OpenSea.
GeeGazza collaborated with Bored Ape to produce the NFT dubbed the “EminApe.” Six, a digital agency that has previously worked with Wu-Tang Clan, Tycho, and Galantis, finalized the acquisition.

This is not Eminem’s first investment in NFTs. The rapper, who was born in Missouri, presently controls multiple OpenSea NFTs under the moniker “Shady Holdings.” Additionally, Eminem’s portfolio includes a number of Lil Baby Doodles X NFTs, including Ditaggdogg#1, the rapper’s stencil artwork, and Superlative Apes #3880.
