Status, a global collective that builds a digital platform for inclusive communities, has partnered with Linea to establish the Status Network, according to a press release shared with Cointelegraph.

“Status will be the first contributor to Linea’s open-source code […] Developers at Status will engage directly with the Linea codebase, intending to operate an identical version of Linea in parallel, thereby strengthening the entire ecosystem.”

Linea's roadmap for decentralisation

The partnership is a significant milestone in Linea's long-term decentralisation roadmap, which aims to create a more collaborative, secure, and transparent ecosystem.

Nicolas Liochon, Linea's global director, stated in the press release that the team has been “concentrated on Linea's open-source stack” since the successful launch of Linea mainnet alpha.

“Our collaboration with Status is a natural fit, given their significant contributions to core Ethereum operations and their strong consumer-facing focus through the Status app.”

Status' contribution to Linea network

The Status team will be responsible for undertaking research, “supporting client and prover diversity,” and contributing to “ongoing engineering on Linea,” as stated in the press release.

According to Cyprien Grau, a Status core contributor, the network and Linea share a “common vision” to enhance decentralisation on the Ethereum blockchain.

“We believe zk is the endgame for scaling and could not be more thrilled about this deep collaboration aimed to ultimately scale Ethereum horizontally.”

zkEVM technology

Absence of knowledge Linea's scaling solution for Ethereum is fundamentally based on Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) technology.

The objective of the method is to resolve the issues of limited transaction throughput and high fees on the Ethereum blockchain by utilising Linea's zkEVM L2 rollup solution .

This most recent development follows Vitalik Buterin's declaration in an Aug. 5 X post concerning cross-chain interoperability between Ethereum L2 networks.

Buterin declared that the Ethereum ecosystem's “smooth user experience” and the rapid resolution of “cross-L2 interoperability problems” would astound individuals.
