Twitter staff product manager Esther Crawford said in a blog post on Thursday that the crypto tips function would be available to all iOS users worldwide\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>, with Android options coming in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Users will be able to accept payments by linking third-party apps like Cash App, Patreon, Venmo, Chipper, Bandcamp, Razorpay, GoFundMe, PicPay, and Wealthsimple Cash to their Twitter biographies and individual Tweets, depending on their location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crawford stated, “We want everyone on Twitter to have access to avenues to get compensated.” \u201cDigital currencies that encourage more people to participate in the economy and enable<\/a> them to transmit money across borders with the least amount of friction possible \u2013 these will help us get there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the aforementioned services, Twitter tips can be sent via the Bitcoin (BTC) Lightning Network, which uses the Strike app to transmit payment, or by directly adding a BTC address to one's profile. According to Crawford, Twitter does not take a cut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the social media company announced its “Tip Jar” concept, meant to allow platform users to reward content creators with the push of a button, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey<\/a> hinted that a BTC tipping option was in the works.
