AMC Theatres, the world's largest movie theatre chain<\/a>, is one step closer to its aim of accepting crypto payments by the end of the year, with crypto purchases for electronic gift cards now available.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

CEO Adam Aron announced on Tuesday that AMC consumers can now purchase digital gift cards \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>using cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) directly through the AMC website, mobile app, and theatres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new payment option was enabled by BitPay, a prominent crypto payments processor, and allows users to buy e-cards worth up to $200, according to Aron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the digital assets approved for AMC e-card purchases, the CEO singled out Dogecoin (DOGE). Aron revealed in September that towards the end of 2021, AMC will accept DOGE as a cryptocurrency for ticket purchases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aron had launched a Twitter poll of 140,000 people, asking if AMC should accept DOGE<\/a> as a form of payment for tickets. \u201cYou've made it plain that you believe AMC should take Dogecoin. We'll have to figure out how to achieve it now. \u201cWatch this space,\u201d Aron warned at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aron announced plans to accept Bitcoin payments for movie tickets in August, and the firm expects to have deployed out the new payment option by 2022, as previously reported. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The movie theatre network also aims to accept four other cryptocurrencies: DOGE, Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
