Starting in 2022, MintGreen, a cleantech cryptocurrency miner \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>based in Canada, will join with the Lonsdale Energy Corporation to provide heat to inhabitants of North Vancouver, British Columbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MintGreen stated in a Thursday announcement that its “digital boilers,” which it claims can recover more than 96 percent of the electricity required for Bitcoin (BTC) mining, will prevent 20,000 metric tons of greenhouse gases from entering the atmosphere during the North Vancouver agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Canadian metropolis of 155,000 people, the recovered energy will be used to heat 100 residential and commercial buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The relationship, according to Colin Sullivan, CEO of MintGreen, is focused on addressing climate change challenges. Building operations and construction accounted for nearly 38 percent of carbon dioxide emissions<\/a> in metropolitan areas, according to a December 2020 analysis from the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crypto enthusiasts seeking warmth during the winter months have frequently turned to mining equipment. MintGreen has already formed partnerships with the Vancouver Island Sea Salt factory and the Canadian whiskey company Shelter Point Distillery to sell heat waste created by BTC mining to help power their operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
