The Bitcoin move comes a month after Volaris' local subsidiary\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a> was granted a license to operate in the nation by Salvadoran aviation authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele announced the airline's acceptance of Bitcoin on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Bukele said that the ability to pay using Bitcoin and the state-run Chivo walle<\/a>t “allows us to extend the availability of flights for Salvadorans” at a recent Volaris event on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government of Bukele continues to encourage inhabitants to use Bitcoin for payments, including offering gasoline subsidies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The country had previously spent $4 million in unrealized Bitcoin earnings to help fund infrastructure projects including a veterinary facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities at a Venezuelan airport aim to start taking Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as payment for tickets and other services, following in the footsteps of El Salvador<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sim\u00f3n Bolvar International Airport, in collaboration with the National Superintendence of Crypto Assets and Related Activities, aims to permit crypto payments as a way to meet local industry standards, according to Cointelegraph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport will take Bitcoin, Dash, and the Petro, a government-issued oil-backed token, according to airport director Freddy Borges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
