On CNN's State of the Union on Nov. 7\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>, Adams said, “We must open our schools to educate the technology, to teach this new way of thinking.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of his aim to turn New York City into a crypto hotspot, incoming mayor Eric Adams believes that schools should include bitcoin and blockchain technology in the curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“When I talked about blockchain and bitcoins on the street, young people stopped and said, ‘What is that?'” Adams told CNN on Sunday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with many other international leaders, Adams has been an outspoken supporter of Bitcoin. According to CNBC, Adams stated that after he takes office in January, he will accept bitcoin as payment for his first few checks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On November 2, Adams was elected Mayor of New York City, and he will assume office at the start of 2022. The 61-year-old Democrat is a fervent proponent of cryptocurrency, having pledged to take his first three paychecks in Bitcoin (BTC) and advocating<\/a> for crypto instruction in local schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
