The winner of yesterday night's frenzied auction for a rare copy of the United States Constitution, which spurred a week-long attempt among a group of crypto enthusiasts to amass the millions of dollars required to bid on it, was Citadel\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a> founder and CEO Kenneth Griffin, according to the Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sotheby's dubbed Griffin's winning offer of $43.2 million “record shattering” on Thursday evening, defeating the spokesman for ConstitutionDAO, who raised more than $40 million for its own endeavour. The organization is now working on reimbursing its donations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sale and its aftermath on Thursday night were particularly tumultuous, with the winner of the auction not immediately evident at the finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
