such as crypto assets and blockchain businesses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cWe are making European financial market supervisory law fit for digitization and for complex group structures in order to ensure holistic and risk-adequate supervision of new business models.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The crypto sector needs unified European monitoring.&#8221; &#8220;We require crypto asset service providers to identify the beneficial owners on a consistent basis,&#8221; the agreement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the statement, the EU regulatory authority should &#8220;not only look after the traditional banking sector, but also prevent the exploitation of cryptocurrency values for money laundering and terrorist financing.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the German federal election on September 26, the coalition was formed after two months of discussions, and it represents the end of Angela Merkel's 16-year reign as Chancellor, who is retiring and will be replaced by the SDP's Olaf Scholz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The adoption of cryptocurrency is spreading throughout the EU<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Elsewhere on the continent, the European Council, which determines the EU's political agenda, approved two <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/european-council-approves-two-digital-asset-proposals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposals<span class=\"wpil-link-icon\" title=\"Link goes to external site.\" style=\"margin: 0 0 0 5px;\"><svg width=\"24\" height=\"24\" style=\"height:16px; width:16px; fill:#000000; stroke:#000000; display:inline-block;\" viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" version=\"1.1\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" xmlns:svg=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><use href=\"#wpil-svg-outbound-7-icon-path\"><\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a>: the &#8216;Regulation on Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) framework' and the &#8216;Digital Operational Resilience Act' (DORA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MICA, in particular, proposes to create a &#8220;regulatory framework for the crypto-assets market that fosters innovation and draws on the potential of crypto-assets,&#8221; as drafted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/european-commission-adopts-digital-finance-package-for-crypto-and-blockchain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Commission<span class=\"wpil-link-icon\" title=\"Link goes to external site.\" style=\"margin: 0 0 0 5px;\"><svg width=\"24\" height=\"24\" style=\"height:16px; width:16px; fill:#000000; stroke:#000000; display:inline-block;\" viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" version=\"1.1\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" xmlns:svg=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><use href=\"#wpil-svg-outbound-7-icon-path\"><\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a> in September 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the European Parliament must yet ratify it if approved, it will subject crypto asset issuers to more strict standards, but nonfungible tokens (<a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/collins-dictionary-announce-nft-as-word-of-2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NFTs<span class=\"wpil-link-icon\" title=\"Link goes to external site.\" style=\"margin: 0 0 0 5px;\"><svg width=\"24\" height=\"24\" style=\"height:16px; width:16px; fill:#000000; stroke:#000000; display:inline-block;\" viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" version=\"1.1\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" xmlns:svg=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><use href=\"#wpil-svg-outbound-7-icon-path\"><\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a> plan was characterized as the &#8220;most important one to date for the entire crypto business&#8221; by user &#8220;BelgianPolitics&#8221; on the r\/CryptoCurrency subReddit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the time of writing, the Redditor's study had nearly 900 comments and provided a full rundown of the proposed laws in MICA. The importance of the proposals was stressed by the author:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Every entity operating in the European Union will be required to respect these rules.&#8221; However, because of the &#8216;Brussels Effect,' there is a good chance that these rules will eventually become international standards.
