Justin Tron steps down as Tron CEO to be Ambassador to the WTO<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Justin Sun<\/a> will step down as CEO of the Tron Foundation, the organization behind the Tron \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>blockchain network, which he launched in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sun, on the other hand, isn't going to retire to a fishing village to live a tranquil life off of his crypto fortune. Instead, he is getting ready to fly to Geneva, Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sun will become Grenada's first full-time ambassador to the World Trade Organization, according to a Tron news announcement shared with Decrypt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It is a tremendous privilege to serve as Grenada's WTO ambassador,” Sun stated in a statement shared with Decrypt. “I am excited about the opportunity to represent Grenada and engage with WTO leadership to revive global trade in a variety of ways, including the worldwide development of a thriving digital economy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sun's expertise in the blockchain business will likely blow some much-needed fresh air into the regional economy since Grenada and CARICOM [the Caribbean Community] are among those hardest hit by a Covid-led tourism industry shutdown,” according to the press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justin Sun plans to mainstream blockchain via the WTO<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to a Tron spokeswoman, it is not a “compensated role,” and “one of [Sun's] goals is to represent and mainstream blockchain by bringing technology to the global political arena via [the] WTO.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sun enjoys pushing cryptocurrency to high-profile individuals, and he is willing to pay a premium for the privilege if required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He paid <\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a>$4.5 million in February 2020 for the distinction of dining with billionaire businessman Warren Buffett (following a long delay after Sun said he had kidney stones<\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a>). At the dinner, he gave Buffett Bitcoin, which he had previously referred to as “rat poison squared.” Later, Sun apologized to Buffett for being a “big-mouthed over-marketer<\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
