Andre Iguodala, a legendary basketball player, is also a successful tech investor and a partner in a well-known VC fund. He wanted to illustrate the disruptive technology's potential once more by making an outlandish decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bitcoin is used by NBA winners to pay their wages<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Igoudala announced on Twitter that, beginning in January 2022, he will get a portion of his pay in Bitcoin (BTC). CashApp<\/a>, a popular retail payments software in the United States, was chosen as the technical foundation for these payouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Klay Thompson, a three-time NBA champion and one of the best shooters in league history, followed Mr. Igoudala in his decision. Igoudala adds that both players “believe” in Bitcoin since it is “the future.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Iguodala and Mr. Thompson are hosting a Bitcoin (BTC) giveaway for all CashApp users to commemorate these announcements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be eligible for the NBA's airdrop, Twitter users must remove their “cashtags” (human-readable public addresses on CashApp), follow the application's main Twitter account, and use the hashtag #PaidInBitcoin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Iguodala won the 2010 FIBA World Championship and the 2012 Summer Olympics with the United States National Basketball Team, in addition to being a three-time NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NBA and cryptocurrency have a long way to go<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Klay Thompson, a five-time NBA All-Star, has joined Igoudala's project after returning to the league after missing two seasons due to an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
