Tesla \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>will take dogecoin as payment for items, according to Elon Musk, who announced it in December of last year. A software programmer who goes by the Twitter handle “Tree of Alpha” discovered source code on the company's website, presumably fulfilling the promise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The engineer informed The Block that they discovered the DOGE payment option on the checkout page after running the source code on the backend. They explained:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMost of the code is already present in the latest Javascript files Tesla uses for processing payments, but the part about Dogecoin <\/a>is forced to return null no matter what happens, thus never showing (basically a way to test code in production).\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

‘Tree of Alpha' also discovered a “crypto continue.html” page on Tesla's website, which has source code for handling crypto payments<\/a>. Also, it looks that Dogecoin can only be used to buy stuff, not Tesla's automobile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to CoinMarketCap statistics, the meme coin's price has increased by more than 12%. The DOGE sign has been noticed next to the Tesla Cyberwhistle and the “Giga Texas” belt buckle by certain Twitter users, including Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
