Billy Markus, the co-founder of Dogecoin, has brought notice to a new Change.org petition demanding for Twitter users to be able to offer tips using the most popular meme cryptocurrency\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DOGE, according to Markus, is the internet's “first tipping cryptocurrency<\/a>.” For example, in 2014, the community contributed the monies required to allow the Jamaican bobsleigh squad to compete in the Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tipping on Twitter (TwitterTipJar)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the petition, Dogecoin boasts the lowest transaction fees of all the major cryptocurrencies, making it ideal for tipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twitter's “tip jar” feature, which allows users to give money to other Twitter users, was debuted in May of last year. The function was advertised as a tool to help content makers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially, regular payment methods such as PayPal, Venmo, and Block's Cash App were the only alternatives available. Twitter added Bitcoin support<\/a> in late September, allowing users to send tips via the Lightning Network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The popular social media platform introduced Ethereum recommendations earlier this week, after introducing hexagon-shaped profile images for non-fungible tokens (NFTs<\/a>) in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Markus's attempt to unite the community, 1,980 people had signed the petition as of the time of writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dogecoin <\/a>co-founder appears to be hell-bent on getting Twitter to accept the top meme coin. He pledged on Thursday that he would post at least one tweet on it every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
