Kempis, who was introduced by Samson Mow, former chief strategy officer of Blockstream, argued that if Bitcoin were to become legal tender, it would give financial inclusion and \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>f<\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a>inancial education <\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a>to the more than 67 million Mexicans who are currently excluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The senator also informed Mexico's president, Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador, that senators supporting the bill wanted to meet with him to discuss the plan. She stated, “<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In two months, we will propose legislation to modify regulations in fintech and monetary law\u2026 We\u2019re looking forward to sitting down with you [President Obrador] to talk about the plan. Bitcoin as legal tender in Mexico.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Kempis, for example, initially unveiled plans in February to propose legislation to make Bitcoin legal tender in Mexico. Kempis claimed after a trip to El Salvador<\/a> that a stronger financial instrument like Bitcoin might considerably improve the Mexican people's standard of living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Countries are positive about Bitcoin adoption <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mow, who left Blockstream<\/a> earlier this month to focus on advising nation-states, also introduced other significant actors from countries interested in Bitcoin adoption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President of Portugal's Madeira area, Miguel Filipe Machado de Albuquerque, stated during his introduction that he believes Bitcoin is the future, and that he is leading Madeira toward becoming more crypto-friendly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
