Their families will now have to account for all of their cryptocurrency investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new provisions apply to any expenditure for the purchase of digital financial assets, a term that includes cryptocurrencies and digital currency under current Russian law. The latter definition will be implemented through a new law proposed by the Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The submitted information will be verified by the relevant Russian authorities. To do so, they will require documentation indicating the value of the crypto assets purchased. Affected Russian citizens and their relatives will also have to share the specifics of each transaction, such as the date and other identifiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moscow officials have been working to comprehensively <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjQ69PWwtf3AhW3gP0HHVQGAVoQFnoECAcQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcoinscreed.com%2Fstaging%2Frussian-parliament-plans-to-restrict-crypto-purchases-by-non-accredited-investors.html&usg=AOvVaw32Fm8rn_JMvVQUTvZcK30c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">regulate the country's crypto space<span class=\"wpil-link-icon\" title=\"Link goes to external site.\" style=\"margin: 0 0 0 5px;\"><svg width=\"24\" height=\"24\" style=\"height:16px; width:16px; fill:#000000; stroke:#000000; display:inline-block;\" viewBox=\"0 0 24 24\" version=\"1.1\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" xmlns:svg=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><use href=\"#wpil-svg-outbound-7-icon-path\"><\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a>. because many aspects remained outside the scope of the law &#8220;On Digital Financial Assets,&#8221; which went into effect in January 2021. These include the legal status of cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, as well as associated activities such as trading and mining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In late March, the Russian parliament passed legislation requiring candidates for public office to disclose information about their digital asset holdings within Russia. The bill amends several acts and affects presidential and parliamentary candidates, as well as other government officials. In April, Putin signed it into law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most recent presidential decree is aimed at candidates for state and municipal offices.
