The United States cryptocurrency trading platform\u00a0<\/a>Coinbase<\/a>\u00a0has employed Faryar Shirzad as the chief policy officer at the firm, signaling its continued commitment to meeting the evolving regulatory landscape governing digital assets.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

In joining Coinbase, Shirzad left a 15-year position as global co-head of the office of government affairs at Goldman Sachs, where he \u201cplayed a leading role in managing the firm\u2019s government relations and public policy strategy,\u201d the exchange said in a Monday blog post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In describing the role of the new chief policy officer, Coinabse said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c[…] Faryar will engage with lawmakers, regulators, and other policy experts to realize crypto\u2019s full potential to fuel a more equitable financial system along with job creation, GDP growth, and innovation.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Shirzad was a member of the \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>White House\u2019s National Security Council and also served as national security adviser for International Economic Affairs. He also worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce and served as international trade counsel to the Senate Committee on Finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coinbase made headlines in April after it became the first cryptocurrency exchange to trade publicly in the United States. Analysts described the Coinbase public listing as a \u201cwatershed\u201d moment for the industry as mainstream recognition of digital assets continued to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As recently reported,\u00a0Coinbase is planning to raise $1.25 billion in debt\u00a0through a targeted private offering for institutional investors. The offering, which comes in the form of convertible senior notes due in 2026, is available only to investors who manage a minimum of $100 million in securities issued by other companies, as defined by Rule 144 of the United States Securities Act.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
