Uniswap won the 0xMonaco: Battle of Titans<\/a> Web3 dev gaming competition hosted by MatchboxDAO, a Starkware-based on-chain gaming environment. It was a webcast on Twitch and featured teams from web3 firms such as Ledger, Polygon, Uniswap, NEAR, Yield Guild Games, Chainlink, OKX, and Bybit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developers raced in a Mario Kart-style racing game that rewarded technical ability, with each team's cars representing a smart contract. It was characterized by MatchboxDAO as a web3 version of “chess and poker.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Since 2016, I've been involved in the Ethereum ecosystem. This is my first time playing a web3 game like this “said Daniel Gretzke, Polygon Labs' technical lead for smart contracts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it is common for web3 games to merely have assets on-chain and not the gameplay itself, 0xMonaco is a completely on-chain game.\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the race, teams must devise a strategy for each car that includes effectively managing resources for accelerating, launching shells, super shells, or purchasing a shield, all of which cost coins. At the start of the game, each player is given 17,500 coins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Competitors must predict what other players are planning in addition to coding talents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I enjoy this type of competition because it allows you to show your skills,\u201d said Jonathan Giamporcaro, a blockchain research and development engineer at Ledger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it is not the only web3 game that allows developers to exercise their coding muscles. Giamporcaro also told The Block that he enjoys Node Guardians, a platform for web3 developers<\/a> that provides a variety of coding challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
