Polkadot is the most recent crypto company to contribute to the effort of raising money for the millions of earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to help those impacted by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that shook southeast Turkey and parts of Syria on February 6, 2023, the decentralized blockchain platform Polkadot<\/a> has invited its members to donate money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 10, the blockchain network posted a request to its users on Twitter, asking them to contribute DOT or other tokens to a relief DAO dubbed Turkiye relief DAO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 20,000 people have tragically lost their lives in Monday\u2019s devastating earthquake in Turkey & Syria.

The Turkiye Relief is a non-profit DAO that was established in the wake of the catastrophe to advocate for legislative change and make it easier for cryptocurrency donations to be made to other non-profits that are actively helping the victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 2000 unique wallet addresses have been disclosed on the DAO's website<\/use><\/svg><\/span><\/a>, and people and businesses willing to help have donated $4.7 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A calamity that rocked the world claimed the lives of over 20,000 people, and organizations and nations from all over the world have been supporting the victims and rescuers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the disaster, the crypto industry has been actively involved in providing aid and support, with several crypto companies making donations or offering channels for donations to assist the on-site rescue workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giant cryptocurrency companies like Binance, Gate.io, and Bitfinex have committed resources and begun assembling care packages to help the efforts. BitGet, a cryptocurrency exchange based in Singapore<\/a>, has already contributed $53,000 to the cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
