Neal Mohan, a Web3-friendly executive, has been named as YouTube's new CEO after Susan Wojcicki left this week. YouTube is owned by Google.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After nine years in charge, Wojcicki left YouTube on February 16 \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a>and announced plans to launch a “new chapter” centered on her family, health, and independent work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She presided over the crucial introduction of the revenue-sharing model during her time in office, among other things. She will continue to serve as an advisor to Alphabet, the parent company of Google.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before taking over as CEO, Mohan was YouTube's chief product officer, where he supervised the contentious removal of the video dislike button as well as the launch of YouTube Music and YouTube Shorts to compete with TikTok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To the dismay of the NFT-hating community at the time, Mohan revealed his preliminary plans for integrating a variety of new features into Web3 in February 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These features include content tokenization using nonfungible tokens<\/a> (NFTs) and metaverse-based content experiences. NFTs, in particular, might offer new opportunities for creators to interact with their fans and create new sources of income, Mohan stressed. He gave the possibility for producers to tokenize their experiences, artwork, images, and films as examples. On Feb. 10, 2022, he wrote in a blog post:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWeb3 also opens up new opportunities for creators. We believe new technologies like blockchain and NFTs can allow creators to build deeper relationships with their fans. Together, they\u2019ll be able to collaborate on new projects and make money in ways not previously possible,\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Web 3-related plans were supposed to possibly launch last year, but they haven't happened. However, given that Mohan is now the firm's leader, they might be ready for another push soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
