The Ethereum network's Sepolia testnet has successfully updated<\/a>, mimicking the next hard fork that is slated to take place when Ethereum's Shanghai upgrade approaches next month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A successful upgrade has been implemented on the Ethereum blockchain's Sepolia testnet<\/a>. This upgrade replicates the imminent Shanghai hard fork, which is scheduled to take place on mainnet in the month of March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 28th, the “Shapella” upgrade, which combines the names of the forthcoming Shanghai and Capella hard forks, was successfully applied on the testnet. Shapella is a combination of the words “Shanghai” and “Capella.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the execution layer client side, the fork is referred to by the name Shanghai,\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/g>\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n <\/clipPath>\r\n <\/defs><\/svg><\/span><\/a> whereas on the consensus layer client side, the upgrade is referred to by the name Capella. The ability for validators to withdraw their staked Ether (stETH) from the Beacon Chain and return it to the execution layer is one of the significant innovations that has been implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to validate transactions on the Ethereum blockchain, validators were required to stake 32 ether. Users will now be able to withdraw rewards that are greater than 32 ETH and still be allowed to continue validating, whereas those who want to fully withdraw will be able to take all 32 ETH plus rewards and stop validating after they have done so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following step, which will take place prior to the Shanghai hard fork<\/a> being live on the mainnet, will be the deployment of the update on the Ethereum Goerli testnet, which is anticipated to begin in the month of March.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
